On February 4, over 60 regional professionals representing all major local industries, academia, and the non-profit sector participated in a full-day working session dedicated to prioritizing opportunities and challenges facing our region’s workforce environment.
The day’s conversation centered on data gathered from over 300 interviews with community members during the second half of 2018. In addition to workforce opportunities identified to be leveraged for talent attraction, development and retention efforts, the following challenges were identified as the most pressing:
With these priority challenges, the Talent Forecast Research Team will spend the next month analyzing resources and capabilities in Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin. From there, they will coordinate with a project management team made up of local workforce development authorities to come forward with action plans designed to help our communities tackle these issues.
Save the date for the Talent Forecast Roll Out Session on Tuesday, April 9. The research team will share results and present carefully designed action plans at that time.
