Three Questions for Ashley Beecroft, Occupational Therapist at Essentia Health and returning mentor for the 2018-19 Mentor Connection program year:
Why did you initially join Mentor Connection?
I enjoy working with and learning from students and getting the chance to share my passion for my career field with others. It’s rewarding to get to work with young individuals who are on their way to joining the workforce and transitioning from being a student to a peer and colleague.
What made you come back for another year with Mentor Connection?
Last year I was fortunate enough to be matched with a bright, driven, and passionate student who shared many hobbies and interests with me in addition to pursuing the same career. We were able to develop a relationship outside of the Mentor Connection program as well and I was able to attend some of her presentations at the College of St. Scholastica. My hope is that it will continue to be a lasting relationship where she will be able to ask questions and share her achievements with me as she enters the workforce.
What keeps you “North By Choice” here in northeastern Minnesota?
This is a beautiful area to enjoy the outdoors, raise a family, and work. I came to the Duluth area for college and have been here ever since. I’m still finding new places to explore all these years later!
