Successful first-time initiative graduates 27 participants with skills geared toward careers in manufacturing.
Earlier this year, the Arrowhead Manufacturers and Fabricators Association (AMFA) partnered with Dale Carnegie Training to bridge the gap for underemployed workers in the Arrowhead region by providing a skills pathway and direct connection to local jobs in the light manufacturing trades.
The program, called Arrowhead Manufacturers Training Program (AMTP), took place over four weeks in April and May at Community Action Duluth. The no-cost, all-age, and all skill level educational program equipped participants with hard skills and soft skills to prepare them for careers in high-value, persistently hard-to-hire positions with local manufacturing businesses.
The program received 35 applicants and 30 participants enrolled. Attendance rates averaged 98% over all four weeks and 27 students graduated in total. One job placement was already confirmed at the close of the program. Based on this high success rate, the partners behind AMTP hope to hold further programs in the future.
